My story

I am Ricardo Silva, an English teacher based in Brazil. I have a bachelor, a masters and I am currently pursuing my PhD degree. I also have a specialization in English Language and the FCE. I've been working as an online teacherpreneur since 2020; however, this journey didn’t begin three years ago.

My journey in education began in 2018, initially driven by a genuine desire to help my college friends. Back then, I didn’t know exactly what I was doing, I just felt in my bones and wholeheartedly believed that I could help more people through my lessons. Therefore, I decided to become an English teacher and have my own business.

But no sooner had I considered the idea of starting my own business than I realized that it wouldn’t be that easy. As far as starting a business is concerned, the questions we ask ourselves are invariably the same: “How do I start? What's the next step? Will people like my services and recommend them?”. What's more, some of these questions wield immense power over our decisions and might prevent us from following our heart.

It wasn’t different for me. I didn’t have any available rooms in my house to make into a classroom, I had only my own bedroom, a television, a whiteboard, and a dream. But I didn't give up; instead, I went for it.  

After two years of teaching in person, I decided to go online. I was completely uncertain about my decision, but once again, I gave it a try. Thank God I did because nowadays this is simply the air I breathe.

In a nutshell, having a look from afar now, I can’t help but feel proud of myself. Against all the odds, I made it (or better, I’ve been making it.). Going after our dreams requires a lot of energy and persistence, but seeing the fruits of our labor is priceless.
